Land Acknowledgement

For thousands of years, this was the land of the Council of Three Fires, the Ojibwe, Potawatomi, and Odwa. This land was also home to the Ho-Chunk, Kickapoo, Peoria, and Miami nations.

The people of these nations were forced off of their land in 1833. Aerial Dance Chicago now stands on this land. We seek to build a new relationship to honor and respect the diverse indigenous people who reside here. We seek to spread awareness and support of indigenous people who have been forced off their land and met with centuries of struggle to survive and preserve their way of life.

Today, Chicago is home to one of the largest urban Native American communities in the United States. Aerial Dance Chicago recognizes and is grateful for the Original Peoples who lived here and who laid the foundation for the City of Chicago.
