Savanna Yu is from Paw Paw, Michigan where she started her dance training at MKSOD in a variety of dance styles. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Michigan University with a B.A in Dance and a minor management in spring of 2018. At her time at Western, Savanna concentrated in jazz, ballet, and modern. She had the opportunity to work with Frank Chavez and Brian Enos having the privilege to perform Rennie Harris’s Continuum and Brian Enos’s Diphthong. As a member of Western Dance Project, Savanna has performed and participated in educational outreach events in Michigan and Illinois. She has also had supplemental training through DanceWorks Chicago, Thodos Dance Chicago, and Inaside Dance Chicago. As an artist, Savanna centers her focus on making self-awareness, expressivity, and communication visible through building relationships based on dynamic differences in movement. As a dance teacher, Savanna teaches dance hoping to encourage students to show their expressions and emotions through movement as she helps students at all ages recognize their abilities to show individuality and passion. In October 2018 she began her training as an apprentice with Aerial Dance Chicago.
