Saskia Ferrara has been dancing since she was three years old and trained at the Lawrence Arts Center in Lawrence, Kansas for fifteen years. At twelve, she joined the Lawrence Ballet Theatre and danced as a senior member of the pre-professional company for six years. In the company she performed as the lead in Le Corsair and was a soloist in pieces choreographed by Paula Weber, Kelly Brunk and Melissa Hale. Saskia also traveled to the Regional Dance America Festival every spring from 2012 through 2017 with the company. She was awarded scholarships to Ballet Hispanico’s ChoreoLab in New York City and to the Glenda Brown Dance Project in Kansas City. Saskia spent her last three years of high school training part-time a the Kansas City Ballet Schooland performed in the Spring Concert. Saskia has performed in many Nutcrackers. She has been cast as the Snow Queen, as Lead Dew Drop as well as performing in the Arabian Dance. She has also danced the part of the Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, and of Lise in La Fille Mal Gardee. Saskia moved to Chicago after having been accepted to the scholarship program at Visceral Dance Center and she has been volunteering with the Everybody Dance Now program as a dance teacher. She received her first professional contract from the Ruth Page Center for the Performing Arts to dance in the Ruth Page Nutcracker in the fall of 2017. Most recently Saskia has joined Aerial Dance Chicago as an apprentice for the spring season and is thrilled to be a part of the company.
