Melissa Bartz received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Columbia College Chicago. She first developed a love for dancing in the air as a company dancer with Aerial Dance Chicago from 2006-2009. She set several pieces of choreography on the professional company including "Rebound" (2008) and "The Universe" (2009). She also served as the Director of the youth dance company from 2007-2009 and was the head teacher at a residency in the Dance Department at Knox College. Melissa took a break from dance and moved to Argentina for a few years to travel and pursue other passions. She studied Spanish and International Relations at la Universidad de Belgrano in Buenos Aires from 2010-2014. She also founded her own ESL institute called Easy Street English, allowing her to spread her love of language learning with Argentine families. Her interest in Aerial Dance persisted and she has continued her aerial training with Trapeze classes at Mamarula in Buenos Aires, Aerial Fabric at The Muse in Brooklyn, NY and in 2015 attended the Aerial Dance Festival in Boulder, CO hosted by Frequent Flyers Productions. She is thrilled to be back home in Chicago teaching Fabric and Flying Hammock classes with Aerial Dance Chicago and so happy to have the opportunity to share her love of flight with all ages and levels.
