Mission and History
The mission of Aerial Dance Chicago is to generate a positive impact on humanity through the art of aerial dance. With innovative choreography, engaging performances and energizing hands-on experiences, our programs enrich, educate, connect and strengthen people of all walks of life.
Aerial Dance Chicago (formerly AMEBA Acrobatic & Aerial Dance) was founded in 1999 with the vision of combining the athleticism and adventure of acrobatic movement with the creative voice of contemporary dance. In 2003, Aerial Dance Chicago was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Characterized by thrilling physicality and originality, the company’s work has been presented across the United States at museums, schools, universities and festivals, including popular hometown venues such as Navy Pier, Museum of Science & Industry, Millennium Park and the historic Grand Ballroom of the Drake Hotel.
Today, Aerial Dance Chicago delivers an underrepresented art form to the diverse cultural spectrum in Chicago. As the company moves forward, creating, performing, teaching and stretching the boundaries of dance, it continues to build a dedicated following of audience members and students.
